For September 13th . . .
Since I'm in a good mood after a rare Mississippi State victory, I'm shortening your reading for Thursday.
Download the article here. It is called wimpsandbarbarians.doc - just click on it and it will open up in MS Word. Print out the entire article and bring it to class.
(For the computer not-so-literate, like me - click on the "here" to get it)
You can also get it here if for some reason the word file doesn't work.
Read pages 2 through 7. Start with the heading CHARACTER COUNTS and stop at the heading BRAVE NEW WORLD.
I will ask the following questions in class - it will be "open article" - meaning you can use your test. But you should read it beforehand, as there will be a time limit.
Here they are:
1) Summarize the author's opinion on "Wimps" (3 to 4 sentences)
2) Summarize the author's opinion on "Barbarians" (3 to 4 sentences)
3) Is the author persuasive, why? (3 to 4 sentences)
4) Based on what you read, what do you think the author thinks is the problem? (2-3 sentences)
5) Even though you haven't read it yet, what do you think the solution might be? (2-3 sentences)
Thanks to Victoria, Chris, Shaun from section 61 and Angela, Precious, and Erica from section 60 for reading! You guys are great!
See you Thursday.
